Joel McCray Music Director & Principal Music Teaching Artist
Joel started playing recognizable melodies on the piano at 18 months old. By age 5, his mother started giving him classical, gospel, and improvisational lessons. He studied with her and 50 other students until his senior year in high school. Joel received a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington. He also has over 30 years of performing/directing experience from overseeing various worship departments including three mega-church music ministries: Cornerstone Baptist Church of Arlington, TX, Gateway Church, Southlake, TX, and Crossroads Christian Church of Grand Prairie, TX. At these ministries, he served as the department head, lead keyboardist, music director, arranger, worship leader, and organist.Joel has produced 7 personal, instrumental projects and recorded over 40 projects for other local, regional, and international artists. He currently travels with national, jazz, recording saxophonist, Joseph Vincelli, and his personal band Zamar. He has performed with a number of acts from Kirk Franklin, Kirk Whalum, Boney James, Fred Hammond, and many more. Joel is currently the worship pastor of High Pointe Baptist Church. He is also founder and instructor of J & B Music Ministries. As an instructor, he has a unique ability to be relatable, relevant, musical, creative, fun, and engaging. He understands the language of music as a performer, and instructor, but most importantly, He values the opportunity to help the student find their own path of creativity.
Brian “Chavez” Lowe Music Teaching Artist, Three for All Dallas Drumline, Troupe Rhythmique
Brian has been a member of the Dallas Mavericks Drum Line since 2004 and frequently performs with a high energy drum ensemble Dynamic Rhythm Entertainment. He has also been involved as an educator with several organizations including the Blue Knights, Phantom Regiment and the Santa Clara Vanguard, as well he serves as a clinician and judge for DFW percussion programs and drum competitions.
Locally, in North Texas, Brian has been an educator for schools in the Arlington, Keller and North Richland Hills ISD’s. He currently serves as a teaching artist for Innovative Percussion and Remo Drum Heads.
JEANNA DOYLE: LC MAP OE: Master Cosmetology License with certifications as a Medical Aesthetic Provider (M.A.P.) and as an Oncology Esthetician (O.E.) trained in corrective make-up and airbrush make-up techniques has worked in office with Plastic and Reconstructive surgeons as well as with Dermatologist and Oncologist with a strong background in fashion and advertising for print television and film. Jeanna has worked with actors, athletes, models, musicians, as well as politicians and a former President.
Jeanna is the founder of a newly formed Non-Profit Suite HOPE (Helping Oncology Patients Esthetically) an initiative that provides education and support to female cancer patients with the aesthetic changes that occur due to cancer treatment. www.suitehope.comTerri Tomlinson Makeup Artist
Beauty Expert Terri Tomlinson creates hair and makeup for print, film, video, runway, and television. Terri has done makeup on dogs, famous athletes, politicians, swimsuit models, actors, celebrities and “real” people. She has been hired to turn people into pirates, create dirt, cover tattoos, “paint-up” a heavy metal hair band, and of course – make people look haute, super natural, and camera ready.
Terri has a natural hand and works proficiently to achieve consistent, wearable hair and makeup for all mediums. She is well experienced in HD and can provide airbrush and hair extensions when needed. Terri writes about her life as a makeup artist, favorite products, and tips on Makeup101.com. She has experience on camera as a beauty expert and speaks to groups on trends and beauty. Seeing a need for makeup education in Dallas, Terri opened Makeup Training Academy in 2010 which offers professional training to new and existing makeup artists. In 2014 Terri opened a full time makeup studio and has expanded MTA to the consumer, offering workshops, makeup services, and professional makeup product.
Susan Keys, MerryMakers, The Geo – Balloon Architect, Hands On Magic
Susan MerryMaker Keys has been clowning around and entertaining in the DFW Metroplex, around the USA, the Caribbean, Australia, Europe and in Mexico since 1990. Susan enjoys people of all ages and has performed for people ages 1 to 102 (her own great grandmothers birthday)! Susan performs for schools, corporate events, church events, libraries, day cares, hospitals, nursing homes, birthday parties, weddings, charitable events and whatever else she can get into-count her in. She is an accomplished balloon artist, marionette puppeteer, face painter and magician in addition to being an award-winning clown. Her most prized award is the honor of being the Texas Clown Associations’ Ambassador of Clowning in 2000.
Susan is the instructor for the UTA Clowning and Variety Arts class and also teaches College for Kids in the summer, the Irving Arts Programs, Taste of Clowning Programs for the Girl Scouts, magic programs for the Birdville ISD, and balloon art programs for Watauga ISD. Susan believes in continuing education and attend the World Balloon Convention, local, state and national clown conventions yearly and monthly balloon jams and face painting guild meetings. She volunteers with the Make A Wish foundation and programs thru Children’s Medical Center for the Children’s Cancer Fund.
Trisha Gregory, Golly Jolly, MerryMakersToo The Geo – Balloon Architect
Trisha has been in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metro area and has performed as a Children’s Entertainer close to 20 years. Trisha and Susan Keys jointly own MerryMakers TOO since 2000 and they have created and perform over 30 themed and educational shows at schools, day cares, and libraries. They perform with magic, puppets, songs, and laughter as well. She has been a puppeteer for over 30 years and makes the hand and marionette puppets come alive. One of Tricia’s specialties is balloon twisting. With years of practice she has twisted many detailed balloons such as Elvis, cartoon characters, intricately designed animals, princesses, adult sized bride & groom, and many more. Tricia has been an instructor for TCA, UTA Clown College, local groups, and has also taught other balloon twisters. She is a member of Texas Clown Association, Mid-Cities Clown Alley #85, Happi Tymes, and DFW Face Painting Guild. She has attended the 2010 & 2012 World Balloon Conventions. Tricia volunteers for the Make A Wish foundation and for the Children’s Cancer Fund as well.Tony Ballard Song Creator & Lyricist Tony is a producer, songwriter, choir director, music teacher, minister of music, and performance artist.Tony Ballard one half of the dynamic duo, Common Folk. He shares the spotlight alongside his blood brother Terry Williams. Commonfolk has appeared with Rickey Smiley on his Live in Atlanta comedy special. As well, Tony has worked with notable producers and artists including Kanye West, Prince, Erykah Badu, Bilal, Musiq, Bun B, and many more. Just recently, Tony Ballard has been featured on an upcoming I Am Second film about “No Malice” of the rap group, The Clips. Chef David Roberson Culinary Service, Life Counselor, Pastor David Roberson believes in feeding people with food and with words. As a Pastor, he leads people from all walks of life through life. David organized One Family Fellowship in August of 2008. He started this ministry with a family dinner. He physically cooked for and served everyone who attended. From children to ex-convicts to veterans, David, has in some way affected their lives in a positive way.In 2013 David started David’s Wine and Dine Catering. His catering business is geared more towards private dining. He’s also catered events for up to 300 people. “I love serving people.”In 2015 David decided to increase his knowledge of food. He enrolled in and graduated 2016, with High Honors, from LeCordon Bleu Culinary Institute. Cooking has always been a stress reliever for David. In many ways his creative way of improvisational teaching mirror his creative ways of cooking. Zemil Poet and Lyric Artist E. Arabis Zemill, a Dallas native, attended Southern Methodist University where he attained a degree in Economics with a minor in Computer Science. While attending SMU he was reunited with three things he’s loved his entire life, writing, poetry and music. He has received several awards for his poetry including: Epitome Magazine’s 2011 Spoken Word Artist of the Year, Quick’s 2011 Sunday Spoken Word Winner and was also runner up for the 2011 National Black Book Festival in Houston, TX. Zemill was the featured poet at Dick Gregory’s 80th Birthday Celebration, Irving’s Black Arts Council Celebration of Black Women and Cheryl Smith’s Reporters Round Table on KKDA Radio. Zemill has penned a highly praised body of work entitled, “Thoughts In Vision – Poetic Works of Love, Life and Inspiration.” He is a volunteer for Athletes For Change, a non-profit residential treatment center for young men ages 13 – 17. He supports the United Way and Dallas Urban League, which both focus on education. Zemill had also adopted Ann Frank Elementary School where he does a poetry workshop for second and fourth grade students. He states, “When we teach, we inspire dreams. When we openly listen and provide guidance, we instill wisdom and the discernment of choice. He is an inspiring Author, Poet and Lyricist.
Heidi Miller Lowell Logo Design & Painting Artist (Austin Chapter of The Artist Outreach)
Heidi Miller Lowell has 12 years experience working in the field of education. She attended the University of Texas in Austin and studied Applied Learning and Development. She served as Executive Education Director at the University Inter-Cooperative Council, worked as a summer camp director, art teacher in public schools, and 3rd grade classroom as well as living in an art guild. She has received awards and accolades that include Teacher of the Year, a District Innovation Award as well as funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Unlike most art teachers, Heidi has studied pedagogy and brain development, and is fascinated by current research in psychology and neurology. She travels for state and national art conferences each year to keep up on the most current research. She is excited to use art to teach students reading, writing, social skills, and creativity at The Artery.

Theresa Robertson Movement Artist (Kansas City Chapter) Theresa Robertson is a certified elementary teacher in Texas and Missouri. She has a Masters of Science in instructional coaching for elementary STEM. Mrs. Robertson has had extensive experience teaching fine arts programs as a choreographer and designer for high school marching bands in both states. Her passion is to bring the arts into everyday classrooms while continuing to increase student achievement.
